When my group was first set the prelim task, an unfortunate communication breakdown, forced my hand and I created this video, following the same criteria and using the same equipment (I'll apologize again for the shaky camerawork).
Taking out the fact of 'shaky hand syndrome', I'm quite pleased with my prelim video, the 180° rule doesn't appear to be broken, but the 'staircase' scene, could well have benefited from a shot of the character running down the hallway, to help with match-on-action. Shot-reverse shot is used during the conversation at the start, which really does help the viewer while watching the film, as hearing a character speak but not being able to see them could be fairly frustrating. I feel that the genre/sub-genre I wanted to emulate (sci-fi comedy) came off pretty well, although the narrative from my point of view isn't very clear.
